Tyler Technologies hired Steve Martin as their Keynote Speaker for their 2021 Summit, but due to the Pandemic they needed to do it virtually. We set up an interview where CMO Samantha Crosby had a once in a lifetime conversation with the legendary Steve Martin. She was in Dallas and he was in NYC and the viewers watched from their devices.
It's not every day you have the chance to spend time in the home of a renaissance man and listen to him talk about his life and the incredible career as an award winning writer, actor, comedian, magician, producer and musician. Having a private banjo concert wasn't too shabby either.
If you're curious about the technology of how we did it, here's a little insight. She was in a studio in Dallas. He was on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. AMS Pictures filmed her side of the conversation and we filmed Mr. Martin. In order from them to be able to look directly at one another and have a comfortable conversation we connected via a zoom call that was fed into a teleprompter with her box full frame on our side. Each participant's audio and video was recorded locally. Our tech teams were on a google meet and text messaged to back channel any communication between the locations. We did a tech run through the day before to troubleshoot any potential hiccups. It went off without a hitch and everyone was happy.
